Ding Dong Merrily on High.

December 1, 2008

A new feature on – the Gallery. I collect artwork of Gwyn and Cablin, and I thought I’d showcase some of it on the blog. Over the next few days I’ll upload what I have, and add more as I get it.

mail_gmiconHappy 4th Anniversary, Blizzard! Another late post, but hey, I got there in the end. Thank you for the gift – he’s adorable. I needed a new fishing companion (Cablin snores too loud) and you came through for me. Much love to you, Blizz!

Well, we hit 80 a night ago. The grind itself wasn’t so hard – I expected it to be a lot tougher. The quests as I mentioned before, are really interactive – we ended up hitting 80 with 2 zones left to quest in. That means Storm Peaks, and Ice Crown (incidentally, the 2 areas we wanted to do most) are left for us to leisurely stroll through and quest when we feel that way.

At the moment, were trying to get into the Northrend instances, since most of them are quite short and easy on the brain. We haven’t got onto heroics just yet, but were not too far off. We managed to get through some yesterday, and had a lot of fun while doing them-

  • Drak’Tharon Keep

A very easy place to heal as a resto druid, although the last boss was a bit of a blur since nobody explainedcritterbites we got turned into skeletons on that last fight. Never mind, we got through it while improvising. The only other pain I remember is Trollgore using Corpse Explosion frequently – though a Rejuvenation kept the DPS and Tank up pretty easy, it was a shock at first.

Did I mention how much fun it is to go through an instance with a bag full of Critter Bites? Ha! My army of Beetles, Spider and Rats was growing by the second. Boo that they only last for 3 minutes, but…

  • Gundrak

Another Troll-themed instance. Another instance where nothing really magical happens in terms of healing. (Even though I say nothing really sets the instance aside in healing terms, doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it as a whole – I’m just used to tricky bosses). The last boss loved Impaling Cablin on his horn, which makes me think that Rhinos don’t like birds sat on their horns after all…

  • The Oculus

This, was a ‘fun’ instance! With a group that listens I assure you, you’ll have a whale of a time – but if your like us and get a mage who picks the green drake to DPS, even though the colours of the drakes have been explained a hundred times over, then your in for a long fight. Of course, the mage died. Then, couldn’t keep the tank drake healed (the tank drake was Cablin, our tank wanted to tank with a DPS drake). Me and the mage switched towards the end of the instance, after wiping on the boss first time around.

If your on the green drake, make sure you keep Leeching Poison on the Ley Guardian 3 times. Then heal the tank. Then Leeching Poison again. Then heal the tank. Its really easy once you know how, I promise.

  • The Culling of Stratholme

I had. So much fun. Doing this instance. I implore you to do the same. Its hard to do the quests knowing the outcome, but its a lot of fun – I’m really looking forward to this on heroic!

chromie-time1So other than questing, we did get quite a lot done over the past few days. Again, I’m sorry we couldn’t blog before now – its been manic with Cablins computer having to be reformatted and me being ill. I’m really happy our druids hit 80 however, it means we can settle back and gear them up (again), get reputations up (again!) and give attention to our neglected alts. I hope our American lovelies had a fantastic Thanksgiving, and I’m looking forward to sharing Winters Veil and its luscious treats with you. The guild is moving ahead to Naxxramas tonight, although me and Cablin aren’t going since we want to get geared up beforehand – good luck Apollyon!

inv_misc_celebrationcake_011Many congratulations to Tinkie for getting to 80! Now he just has to wait for the rest of his guild to book their ideas up and catch up to him! He’s a Restoration Druid, but specced Balance for the expansion. He’s also the (current) guild know-it-all about instances and quests. We love you Tink!

And I managed to ding 73 last night. Next to a random human on a ram even though I tried getting Cablin in there too, but hey – can’t get everything right. We plan on hitting 74 later, since we both want to have a wander around Dalaran, and I want to see the shop where my character will be lurking, and spending copious amounts of gold, constantly.

Murloc Momma?

I had *so* much fun doing that quest. We hit 72 (and Cab managed to sneak in 73 too) last night so we wandered over to the Tundra that people really, really dislike. In our guild anyway. I haven’t found it that boring as yet, but we only made it half way through quests before calling it a night. Though something terrible has begun.

Our epics.

Are being replaced.

By blues and greens.

Yes, very slowly at first – but its happening. At least we raided towards the ‘end’ of Burning Crusade with a grin on our faces knowing we were going to be updated, but you still have to swallow that nominal amount of pride and switch in that green I think. Some of the items look rather pretty too, which is a bonus – especially when switching from epics.

inv_misc_bag_satchelofcenariusAs for my professions, Herbalism hit 425 last night (much quicker than I thought it would) and Alchemy is around 400. I’m only using the herbs I pick up from questing areas – I haven’t bought any, and I’m not having much of a problem. Once I collect enough, I’ll push through to 450. I’m determined to save gold and only use what I collect – thats why I picked herbalism, right?

A whole new world.

November 17, 2008

Just like almost everyone else, me and Cablin have been spending our time in Northrend as of late. This place is fantastic – I’m not just talking about the graphics and the EXP – but the sheer interactiveness of the expansion. I’ve been collecting critters from traps, blowing up mines to get gems, and looting mobs that have been killed by NPC’s. Blizzard have really outdone themselves this time!

Yes, I reached 71. I’m not rushing leveling in this expansion – so many people are, we have a 76 Druid (go go Tinkie!) in our guild and we’ve already seen the achievements for realm first popping up here, there and everywhere. The first level 80 on our server was a Tauren shaman, he dinged 80 while we were playing with our Death Knights. (Yeah, our game time has been split between our Druids and two deliciously evil Death Knights – such a deliciously evil class to play, with my own deliciously evil ghoulish minion to order around. Yum!)

The quests in this expansion, and the areas themselves, are beautiful I don’t want to rush around leveling. When I get to 80, I get to 80. Some people like the rush however, so power to them.

I feel like a tourist sometimes. I had to take a picture of the penguins… I mean look how cute they are! Were only questing in Howling Fjord, I’m going to be terrible in the other areas. My herb bag is full of strange new herbs which look really pretty, my bag full of green items that are nearly as good as my epics, and I’m really enjoying it!

Meet the newest member of our family – Frosty. He’s very shy, unlike his more brutal ancestors, and prefers to eat my cooking. No wonder he’s looking so thin…
